This participatory performance was conceived for "Procurato Allarme" at the Love and Dissent Gallery in Rome. This was the second installment of a three exhibitions cycle dealing with the conspiracy theory of chemtrails and HAARP. For this work, I found a white pigment, lithopone, which is made from barium and sulfur, two of the chemicals alleged to be in chemtrails. I decided that this painting had to be created collectively in the same way a conspiracy is created collectively (either by the conspirators or by the conspiracy theorists). Members of the audience were invited to add their personal chemtrail onto the canvas and to sign a piece of paper which was then glued on the back of the canvas. The painting is both the documentation of the action, a representation of the chemtrail and a commentary on the dynamics of conspiracy theory.
